Technology is an ever changing part of life, one that shapes and influences our daily activities and our future interests. The kitchen too is not left behind by modern technology. Take for example a particular breed of kitchen appliances that appear similar in function, operate on a similar principle and yet perform starkly different tasks – Blenders, Food processors and Juicers. Some vouch by the former, some by the latter and a few are stuck in between but in our opinion, it is the Blender that proves to be the most useful of all three and here’s why.
First Round – Blenders vs Food Processors
A blender, whether the fixed base type or handheld type, is more frequently seen on kitchen counters nowadays compared to food processors. Not only does it offer users a chance to create amazing recipes from scratch but also juice and puree ingredients, prepare pasta sauce, dips and much more. It has quite a number of technical functions that can be chosen with just one push of a button. This powerful device is designed to grind, blend, puree and even to emulsify. Aside from crushing ice and making delicious or healthy mixed fruit shakes, it is also used to create smoothies or even cocktail drinks. Blenders are more helpful tools when turning solids into liquids.
A blender can shred, slice, chop grate, knead, puree just like a food processor. Kitchen chefs however prefer to use food processors when breaking down solid and liquid food at the same time, the blades are interchangeable, thus making it a one-stop machine. While, there are valid uses of food processors, the same can be achieved with an equal efficiency using blenders.
Blender – Can double as a food processor with ease.
Food Processor – Cannot do what a blender can!
Second Round – Blenders vs Juicers
Blenders are known to turn solid food into liquid; it isn’t the same as an actual juicer. When one blends, if the peels are not removed, it can be included in the mix and blended as well. You may believe that a blender and juicer operate similarly, but the answer isn’t as simple as just a yes or no. Blenders can turn a whole fruit into liquid, although it will have a thicker consistency compared to a juicer simply because there are no filters or screens to remove the residue and pulp from the mixture.
Suggested Blenders:
Juicers, on the other hand, only extract the juice and disregard the rest of the fruit. It is said that there is a tendency to lose the nutrients when it is blended; as for the juicer, the juice extracted must be consumed immediately to prevent any spoilage and losing the nutrients. For those who would like to host a party and serve drinks to guests, a blender is preferable, as smoothies are more of a party drink and are created better with blenders.
Blender – Cannot juice as efficiently as a juicer but is great with party drinks and smoothies.
Juicer – Great for juicing alone, cannot make proper party drinks though.
In determining the perfect appliance to keep for your kitchen, it is vital to assess your personal needs and how you plan to use the appliance. If you love cooking, then the perfect appliance to purchase is the food processor. If by any chance, you are conscious about your health and would like to switch to a fit lifestyle, you might want to try the juicer. Blenders are great because it has qualities of both the processors and juicers, so it would be a good all-round investment. Although, if you are a kitchen enthusiast and would like only the best tool for your different preparation needs such as cooking, juicing etc, then it is highly recommended that you purchase all three. For the rest of us, a blender alone suffices!
