Ninja QB1004 Review
Crushing ice, chopping fruits and veggies and blending soups and smoothies were easy and effortless.
About the Ninja QB1004
Ease of Use:
While the multi-layered curved blades make chopping and blending quick, there is a downside to it. We noticed fruits and vegetables had to be cut smaller than usual to get them into the containers. Nonetheless, the blades are extremely sharp, just as advertised by the manufacturer. All we can say is be extremely careful when handling the blades. We also noticed that the hinged lid made it a tad bit difficult to add ingredients.
The single speed button allows you to control the consistency of the food while blending or chopping. Furthermore, all plastic containers are BPA-free, so no worries of toxins. All parts of the Ninja other than the power pod are dishwasher safe, making it easy to clean.
Motor and Horsepower:
We thought that the 40-Watt motor of the Ninja QB1004 would not be able to give the power to the blades. But were we surprised! The motor is located on the top, unlike with traditional blenders and food processors, wherein the motor is located in the base. Top placement of the motor moves the curved, multi-layered blades very efficiently. The motor operates with 160 Hz electrical power and on 120V.

Noise and Space:
We found the blender to be amazingly quiet. When we tested the Ninja QB1004 along with other blenders, it was one of the quietest. There were no loud crushing noises while running the blender. All we noticed was a smooth whizzing of the blades.
The blender is compact. Standing at a height of 7 inches and with a width of 19 inches, it hardly takes any space on the counter top. In fact, you can easily store it the space between your counter and cabinet. If you store it in the cabinet, it will not take up too much room.
Options and Features:
We believe that the Ninja QB1004 has just one drawback. It comes with only one speed pulsing system. The button has to be held down constantly if you want to keep the blades rotating. On the other hand, the Ninja blends quickly, so you will not be spending too much time holding down the button! We found that by pulsing for short a duration, while blending and chopping, you can achieve the desired consistency.
What we liked immensely is the splash guard. The splash guard for the 48-ounce pitcher can interchanged for the 40-ounce bowl. However, the 16-ounce container is the chopper and comes with its own splash guard.

Warranty & Service:
What we found is that the Ninja QB1004 is made from plastic and the parts near the motor easily melted or stripped out. Furthermore, the blades are not very durable. They break easy.
Moving on to the warranty. The Ninja comes with a 1 year limited warranty. The warranty does not cover normal wear and tear of parts and is not applicable if the blender has been tampered with or used for commercial purposes, since it is a consumer-grade blender/food processor.
Conclusion:
There is no denying the fact that the Ninja QB1004 is extremely efficient and quick. It definitely can crush ice into soft, smooth snow in under 60 seconds! This blender is affordable and its multi-functional abilities let you work efficiently and quickly in the kitchen. The blades are exceptionally sharp and we also loved the top placement of the motor. Furthermore, we found the small motor to be pretty effective. In fact, it was the quiet working of the motor that won us over. If you need a backup blender to go along with an expensive mainstay in your kitchen then go for the QB1004.
