Oster BRLY07-B Review
The buttons work really well and are “easy touch”!
About the Oster BRLY07-B
Ease of Use:
We really like the buttons on the Oster BRLY07-B. They work well and are “easy touch”. There are buttons to control the speeds – low, medium and max. You can also use the pulse option with the low and max speeds. We observed that at high speed, liquid tend to bounce around in the jar but it never leaks out from the top as long as you have filled it below the maximum capacity.
The blade is really sharp but this isn’t an issue whilst cleaning as it along with the glass jar is dishwasher safe.
While the blender is extremely efficient in making smoothies and shakes, it is not so as a food processor. We found that food had to be constantly pushed down into the blade using a spatula initially. Remember to cut down ingredients finely before processing it.
Motor and Horsepower:
The motor is powerful at 600 Watts and this makes blending frozen fruits or crushing ice a breeze. With 7 different speeds, you will never spend much time blending or pulverizing things. The power of the motor makes certain tasks quick, but beware of the loud piercing sound when running it at high speed!

Noise and Space:
The Oster BRLY07-B is not extremely loud when operated on low and medium speeds. However, the sound decibels increase tremendously when the blender operates at high speeds. In fact, it is so loud that one has to scream in order to hear each other. The manufacturer claims that the noise levels have gone down compared to its predecessor, but we beg to differ.
The good news is that you can store the blender in the space between the cabinet and countertop. It is small enough to fit just about anywhere in your kitchen – including inside the side cabinet.
Options and Features:
The jar is made from glass, which means that it does not scratch. Also, there is no bothersome odor to worry about. Also, the jar is thermal shock-proof, meaning it can withstand extreme temperatures without shattering or cracking.
It comes with 7 pre-programmed speeds along with low and high pulse options. The 6-prong stainless steel blade is a novelty, considering most blenders have 4 prongs. What we really liked was the ability of the blade to change directions to prevent clogging. But this cannot be done instantaneously – it is available as a preset. Another problem we noticed with the Oster BRLY07-B is the necessity to switch off and then turn it on for the other buttons to work.

Warranty & Service:
The Oster BRLY07-B, like most other consumer grade blenders, comes with a one year limited warranty. The warranty does not cover problems that arise due to normal wear and tear. Furthermore, the warranty is void if you tamper with the machine.
Conclusion:
The Oster BRLY07-B is a good blender for making smoothies and shakes. However, this is not an ideal food processor. This said, the blades are sharp and effective. The glass jar has a lovely ribbed design and is scratch resistant. Overall, the blender is easy to use and powerful enough to crush ice and frozen fruits in seconds. We like the reverse action of the blade, and did not care for the loud roar at high speed. If you intend using the blender at low and medium speeds and for blending rather than food processing, you will definitely like this blender. Did we mention that the BRLY07-B is compatible with older Oster accessories and blades?
