The Vitamix 1709 is a commercial grade blender designed for both restaurant and domestic use. And frankly, we weren’t disappointed with its much touted image. Its name is completely apt – It is a Vita-mix that seamlessly blends veggies and fruits into a nutritious drink. This blender is also approved by the Culinary Institute of America. So, that speaks volumes about its performance and quality.
The 2-plus peak horsepower motor along with the stainless steel blades rotate at an impressive speed of 240 miles per hour capable of crushing cell wall of fruits and veggies to ensure they are blended enough to release the last drop of nutrient. Furthermore, the 64-ounce jar can be intimidating, but it is designed to force the ingredients towards the blade and create a vortex within the jar. Using this blender, you can juice, grind, blend, chop and puree just about anything. The Vitamix 1709 is convenient and easy to use. However, there is a learning curve when it comes to using this blender. Thankfully, this curve is not too complex. Practice and experience will teach you when to use high or low speed. Also, you will need some experience when it comes to figuring out the liquid measurement and the duration you should run the blender for different items, such as smoothies, soup and diet drinks. But once you master these subtle nuances, you will be a pro.

Noise and Space:
The Vitamix 1709 being a commercial grade blender, is a heavy duty machine that can be pretty loud when in operation. Thankfully, you only need to run it for a couple of minutes regardless of what you want to do. But do not expect to be able to listen to the radio while operating this blender!
It is huge standing tall at a height of 20.5 inches! We could not even get it anywhere near the space between the counter top and the cabinet!
Options and Features:
We were really impressed with the Vitamix 1709. The gigantic jar comes with a spill-proof lid that has a vent to add ingredients while the blender is running. The grip is soft and easy on the hand.
The blender comes with 10 speeds and buttons to increase speed is easy to use. Moreover, there is a toggle for high and variable speed as well. All buttons are clearly marked and easy to read.
We were impressed by the 3-inch diameter of the cutting blade. It performed as expected and consistently.
We really like the self-cleaning function. After using the blender, just pour a drop of your dish washing liquid and some water, run the blender for 30 seconds and rinse.

Warranty & Service:
We were really impressed by the warranty of the Vitamix 1709. Where can you find a full warranty of 7 years? Whether the blender fails due to normal wear and tear or faulty components, the manufacturer repairs the machine within 30 days of return, free of charge. Now, this is what we call a warranty! Furthermore, if the machine cannot be repaired, the manufacturer replaces it for free or refunds the amount paid in entirety.
Conclusion:
We believe the Vitamix 1709 is one of the best commercial grade blenders in the market. It is extremely versatile and while the cost may be prohibitive, we believe that it is money well spent. 7 Year long warranty, capable of doing anything, large and powerful, you will find grinding, pureeing, blending, juicing and chopping a lark with this blender. In fact, we rate the Vitamix 1709 as the best blender today.
